Mount Batur
Activity Place in Bali

Still an active volcano Mount Batur sits 1,500 meters above sea level and takes about an hour’s drive northeast of Denpasar. Smoking and rumbling takes place periodically at this mountain. Two eruptions occurred in 1917 and 1926 and more recently in 1994. A crater lake was formed about 30,000 years ago after a major eruption. Many vantage points offer spectacular views of the area. Dances are the major part of Balinese culture and the Barong and Keris dance which is performed every morning at Batubulan Village, is one of the best known and loved. The story is about the eternal fight between good and evil: the evil Rangda (a mythological monster) battling with the good Barong (a mythological lion). After the show, continue to Gunung Kawi temple at Sebatu, and terraced rice field at Tegal Lalang. A stop is made in Kintamani for lunch perched dramatically on top of the crater rim of Mount Batur Volcano, where you will have breathtaking views of the crater, lake, lava flows, and volcanic peaks. Enroute pass through many of Bali’s famous handicraft villages such as Mas for woodcarving, beautiful Ubud for paintings, Celuk for intricate gold and silverware, or perhaps a batik factory for some lovely locally made fabric. Your return journey will take you off the beaten track past beautiful countryside, and Monkey Forest at the fabulous village atmosphere of Ubud, known as the artistic heart of Bali.

The Ayung River is the longest and largest river in Bali, and white water rafting was first introduced in Bali along this river. To experience rafting on the river Ayung’s west side is amazing, for besides the enjoyment of challenging rapids, the panorama of this beautiful, intact nature area is highlighted by the appearance of wild animals along the rafting route such as big bats, black monkeys, magpies and more.Carving through some of Bali’s most fantastic landscape, the Ayung River provides a thrill the moment you push off from the river bank.
